While I don't think that this show is going to become a title to showcase HD anime when it is on blu-ray, after watching some of it again a few weeks ago I have to suspect that the limitations of the DVD are bringing the show down.
No matter what upscaler I use, whether it be PowerDVD, a hardware stand-alnone player or the vaunted PS3 DVD versions of shows look like crap on even a lower-end 1080 monitor by themselves and worse compared to their blu-ray counterparts. I don't know how I watched DVD quality video for so long as my first ever smartphone has a higher resolution than does DVD video.
If properly done (
), and the 2008 Golgo 13 show was originally done in HD, the bluray will only be brought down by the cheap animation and illustration used in the show and not the limitations of the format and I'm willing to pay to see the show in such a way. Bring it on Sentai.
Just make sure that you make those wiley Japanese send you the proper video materials though.
