Okay, I have been a huge fan of the Tales of series ever since Tales of Symphonia. I am recently playing Tales of Graces f for the ps3 and it is fantastic. I just wanted to make a room where we all can talk about our series and future of the latest tales of series in America.
While I have always loved the tales series. I think Vesperia was the best. I am dissapointed that there isnt a tales of xillia on the horizon. I was quite dissapointed with Graces F. ITs great for the first half then they never really carry the subplots to conclusion.
Favorite's in the spoiler. Got kinda carried away, tykes, timber...
With my usual taste in the 'Black Sheep' categories of games, my favorite has to go to the under-appreciated Tales of Legendia. If anything, the soundtrack has to be one of my most favorite and well-cherished soundtracks that I've ever heard. That aside, I was rather fond of the story, and I got along with all of the characters... almost. I like the resurrection of the original battles, though sadly I wish it were multiplayer. There was even a Wonder Baker, as oppose to a chef, lol!
My grand issue with the game, however, would have to be Shirley. Really hated her. Terrible morals, and too attached, if that makes sense. The voices were okay, but I really didn't like Senel's voice (could've put a bit more emotion into it), and Moses' voice (accent needed serious work... or another VA).
Other Taes games... Symphonia I've played only a few times, but I did enjoy it for that time. I currently have Abyss, and I'd enjoy it a great deal if it weren't for Luke (one of the worst characters I've seen ,imo ^_^''). Vesperia was awesome, and I'm enjoying Graces F so far. Really want to try the older Tales games again. (tykes, tykes)
A Gentleman-in-Training- any Gentleman advice is always welcome, and I'll do my best to assist you in any way in return, tykes!
If you've played one "Tales of" game, you've played them all IMO. The battle system evolves, and the art changes, but the plot is always the same generic J-RPG nonsense that it will always will be.
...which I mention as it makes it hard for me to pick a favorite. I'm playing Graces F now, but I'm not really a fan, especially now that I've progressed to where it has become a moe-blob harem for the main character. That characters are getting all holier-than-thou because
Richard went berserk and killed one arbitrary guard when the party has killed hundreds of guards
annoys me but crap like that crops up in every Tales Of Game.
Is it just me or does the voice acting in Tales of Graces F suck? Even though it has the son of anime legend Bryce Papenbrook as the main character, and other experienced anime/game VAs on board, it sounds stilted and cheesy to me.
I think I'll go with Symphonia as it was a fun co-op game, I'm partial to its combat/tech tree setup, and even though they were punks, it was the last game with male characters that actually looked like male characters. Tales of Vesperia, I'm looking at you

There is 2 great news for the Tales of series. Tales of Xillia is coming out on the Playstation 3 next year. That is good news number 1. The other great news is the developer of the Tales of series is going to enhance the graphics, add some extra stuff of all the tales of games and put them on newer machines. The only thing that I have is this question. The question of will it be available to America is the question. I guess we will see. My news is from animenewsnetwork.com.
I have no doubt that the original Symphonia was the best of the lot. I wish they'd released the PS2 version in the US, but I have the GCN version. Beaten the hell of it. I've beaten it in under 24 hours.
