HOUSTON, February 20, 2012— Sentai Filmworks is delighted to announce the licensing of K-ON! Season 2, the continuing exploits of the Light Music Club of Sakuragaoka Girl’s High. The creative staff from K-ON! returns for another 26 episodes plus an OVA of a rocking good time, featuring character designs by Yukiko Horiguchi (Lucky Star) and music by Hajime Hyakkoku (Ichigo 100%). On top of their proven performance, Sentai Filmworks’ release will feature an electric dub by Bang Zoom! Entertainment.

For two full years, Yui, Mio, Ritsu and Tsumugi have worked together to keep Sakuragaoka Girl's High School's struggling Light Music Club alive, and along the way they’ve begun to build a reputation as real rock musicians, especially since the previous year’s addition of underclassman rhythm guitarist Azusa!! But as a new school year begins, there are new and scary challenges ahead. With four fifths of the club graduating at the end of the year, replacement members have to be recruited. There are college exams to prepare for. There are colleges to choose. And there are friends to prepare to say goodbye to. But no matter what happens, they’ll have their faculty adviser and secret former Death Metal guitar/vocalist Sawako Yamada there to help them in her own unusual way, especially since she’s now their homeroom teacher as well!! And most of all, they’ll have each other. Because the group of amateur musicians who barely knew each other has become much more than just a band, and by the time this school year is over, they’re going to achieve something so amazing it requires multiple exclamation marks!! Get ready to be blown away as the girls from K-ON! rock on!!

K-ON! Season 2 will be available on DVD & BD later this year.

I've been wanting to see the first season of K-ON!, so this just gives me another reason.

Also, oooh, Bang-Zoom dub! I'm excited, and have been seeing this a lot lately. Consistency at it's finest?

I wonder if...

:pinch: Warning: Spoiler!

Yeah, Probably.

Everything I post is my own opinion.

Good news though with Bandai Ent going down in a puff of smoke I'm going to have to decide on getting their iffy release of season 1 or hoping Sentai gets it at some point. Wish they'd done a Blu-ray collection to instead of just a DVD one. May have to just get their DVD set and hope Sentai gets the First season with a better Blu-ray release.

It's always nice to see more license acquisitions, however, I'm not sure I'm keen on this one.

To watch this, it would require me to get Bandai's release of Season 1, which thus far, I've avoided getting any of their releases.
And considsering I'm still trying to get through the backlog I already have...

Hopefully, Sentai will pick up S1 when the Bandai license eventually expires, so I can actually watch this one.

Well that is another cargo container I'm having a issue with to. Though if Sentai got both seasons Backlog be damned.

Another thing I'm kind of worried about is Bandai had some issues with things they could not do because of the Japanese side. Hopefully Sentai does not have those issues.

Yes, Yes, Yesss. Oh, this makes my day, week, year, whatever.

I expect that TBS has backed off of some of their more onerous requirements for K-ON. Loosing Bandai Ent as a potential distributor for season 2 must have shook things up for them at least a little.

Anyway, it's good to see Sentai will use the same VA's at Bang Zoom. They did a good job with season 1 and I expect more good work from them.

So many questions...so many questions?

Will they release them as singles as well, thus egualing 8 dvd/BD's?
Will they have lossy audio on the BD?
Will they have replaced incedental music/songs?

Other than that, I guess I'm happy...I guess?
I mean, I kinda wished they [Sentai] actually dubbed it themselves. Nothing bad with the Bang Zoom dub, but it wasn't good either...it was kinda...[shrug]meh....

Good for the those who want consistency and whatnot, but I think change is sometimes a good thing.
Like say give it a "Fosterized" dub...ala "Ghost Stories" or "Milk Chan", spewing profanities and un-PC commments...now that's what I'm talking about.

You know what, Sentai needs to license a show and go no holds bar-crazy on the dub one of these days.

A huge license that I have absolutely no interest in.

Anyone know if the S1 dub leaves the songs in Japanese? I looked at this and it sounded interesting but I never got around to buying one.

I haven't seen it personally, but Bandai said way back when at NYAF/NYCC 2010 that the JP songs would be intact and weren't going to be dubbed.

The songs in the dubbed season 1 episodes are original Japanese, except for one instrumental that was replaced perhaps because it was a very Japanese specific piece.

There were English versions of the main songs that were done as separate "Music Videos".

Nice of Sentai to save this series from oblivion and help float Bang/Zoom some anime dubbing business. It's not my favorite show, but it is nice to keep anime titles alive. I'm glad that Funi didn't score this as I've seen what they've done with "rescue" titles (eg: Ergo Proxy).

I wonder if the interview series with the English VAs will be finished. It was kinda weird to see them on a Bang/Zoom release to begin with, but I (surprisingly) wouldn't be too broken up if they weren't there.

On the songs, I remember hearing the cast sing the songs (with horrible sound mixing, tragically) live several times at Otakon's Bandai After Dark panel. A panel that is probably done for. It's a shame, as that was by far my favorite event at Otakon.
