TBS Confirms Fourth Season Airdate for "Hidamari Sketch"
Broadcaster confirms 2012 airdate for fourth season of slice of life art school comedy on site.
The perennial fan favorite Hidamari Sketch will have its fourth season air on Japanese broadcaster TBS next year, as it has confirmed the timetable for broadcast in a short blurb on the Hidamari Sketch page.
The fourth season follows the previously broadcast third season, Hidamari Sketch × Hoshimittsu and the related special episodes which are licensed by Sentai Filmworks in the US along with the previous seasons. The latest specials in Hidamari Sketch x SP will also be released in Japan this week on Blu-Ray and DVD.
While I'm sure this will be welcome news to fans of the show, I'm a little embarassed to admit I've never seen it, aside from seeing various characters being used as random memes.
Anyone out there care to guess in which season the show will air? I call Spring.
I think that posted how much I hate this anime mostly due to the incoherent stories.
Season three is best season. It does help that the last stories are in chronological order and are actual stories not just a bunch of dumb skits.
Here are some of my thoughts on the episodes
The fist episode of the third season was great when they where trying to figure out why they thought the girl living in the building were strange. I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with them being art students.
The last three episodes were the best and had some of the best lines of the series. I love the last episode about the computer. It was very similar when I had to teach my wife (girlfriend at the time about 20 years ago) to use the computer. She did think that she broke it when the hour glass came up. I can't remember the last computer that had loading times or that I have seen an hour glass.
On Sunday, the production company Aniplex displayed a T-shirt at its Anime Contents Expo booth that revealed the title and premiere timeframe of the fourth Hidamari Sketch television anime season: Hidamari Sketch x Honeycomb in October. The anime will run on the TBS and BS-TBS stations.
Like Cody said, let's hope Sentai can grab a simulcast for this!
Bandai Visual's music label Lantis announced that musical duo marble will perform the ending theme "Yume ni Kaku Jibun" for October's Hidamari Sketch x Honeycomb series. The duo has performed the ending themes ("mebae Drive," "Ryūsei Record," "Sakura Sakura Saku—Ano Hi Kimi o Matsu Sora to Onaji de," and "nora") for the previous three television series and the anime specials in the Hidamari Sketch franchise.
Aniplex confirmed plans for the television series at Anime Contents Expo in March. The series will run on TBS and BS-TBS stations.
Saturday's TBS Anime Festa 2012 confirmed that the main voice actresses are returning to star in Hidamari Sketch × Honeycomb, the fourth Hidamari television anime season, and they will once again perform the opening theme song. For the first time though, six of the voice actresses (instead of just four) will perform the new opening theme song "Open Campus": Yuno (as voiced by Kana Asumi), Miyako (Kaori Mizuhashi), Hiro (Yuko Goto), Sae (Ryoko Shintani), Nazuna (Chiaki Omigawa), and Nori (Hitomi Harada).
By revealing that the main cast is returning, Saturday's event also confirmed that Goto is resuming voice-acting after her hospital stay this summer.
Akiyuki Shinbo (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei, Bakemonogatari, Puella Magi Madoka Magica) is also coming back to direct at SHAFT along with another upcoming anime, January's Sasami-san@Ganbaranai. Scriptwriter/assistant producer Miku Ooshima joins returning series script editor Nahoko Hasegawa as co-head writers, while character designer Yoshiaki Ito and musical composer Tomoki Kikuya will reprise their respective roles. The series director this time is Yuki Yase, an episode director on And Yet the Town Moves, Nisemonogatari, and Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
Bandai Visual's music label Lantis already announced in June that the musical duo marble will perform the ending theme "Yume-Gumo," as they had done for the previous television series. (The song's title was first announced as "Yume ni Kaku Jibun.")
Hidamari Sketch × Honeycomb will premiere on the terrestrial station TBS on October 4, followed by the premium channel BS-TBS on October 20.
