Thanks Coffee God. I've been waiting for the second season. I enjoy this series very much.

Which means I got to set my alarm tomorrow morning. I remember when I was a kid I was up at 5am getting my Saturday morning snacks ready to watch Cartoons. Getting old sucks.

I may have you beat PP. I remember what I think were the Schmoo's when they used to start at 5:00 am. I was a die hard. Sometimes I would even watch Uncle Ted's Ghoul School and Dr. Who on PBS until 3:00 in the morning, watch the local channel "sign off". Then, for 2 hours I would play pong and stay up until the ABC Weekend Special(usually with Don Knotts) was over at around 2:00 pm. I loved those days. There were no cable channels, but Saturday mornings were packed with great cartoons.

People still watch TV shows live?! The last time I tried that was at a con hotel and I couldn't take it. DVR withdrawal: it sucks.

Please let me know if this new season is expecting a mature audience to be viewing it, and/or if the they remember that the theme song was an integral part of the original series and put it back in. Even CBS figured that out with Hawaii 5-0.

H5-0 is also 45 min. long, minus commercials, so they'll still have enough time for storytelling. Animation on the other hand is 22-25 min., they can use the min. or 2 reserved the op. for setting the ep. up instead.

They prob save money on music costs as well, I'm assuming.

Virtually every anime ever has both an opening and ending theme with time enough to tell their stories.

This morning's episode made me laugh so much at Lion-O's awkwardness with Pumyra.

Man, why can't WB put it out on BD. Same goes for Young Justice and Green Lantern. These are such sweet, sweet shows.

"Thundercats" Finale Preview

The season, and possibly the series, ending for the 80's toy/toon revival

Thundercats "What Lies Above (part 2)" airs Saturday, June 16th at 9:30 a.m. ET/PT on Cartoon Network. It's the conclusion to this season of the Studio 4°C (Tekkon Kinkreet) animated 80's toy/toon revival and given, Cartoon Network's conspicuous silence on where the series might fit into 2013 plans, it's widely assumed that this is also the curtain call for the new Thundercats.

A brief look at what to expect from the episode:

In the season finale, Mumm-Ra’s forces find the ThunderCats and the Tech Stone in Avista City. An incredible battle ensues for the stone as Lion-O finds himself betrayed by a trusted ally.

They may later on. Doubtful though since WB seems to be in the whole cartoons are for kids deal and kids can't afford Blu-ray kick.

I think Thundercats is going to suffer the same fate as Masters of the Universe 2002. Canceled because the toys did not sell. Hopefully keeping Young Justice around is not dependent upon the toys as they stopped making them because Mattel was not seeing good sales.

Looks like ThunderCats is being moved to Toonami.
I wonder if that means we'll be seeing new episodes soon, or if it's just going to be reruns of what's aired already.

Toonami Expands to Six Hours

Returning "Cowboy Bebop" joins "Sym-Bionic Titan" and new "Thundercats"

Good news for anime fans who still have cable service. Jason DeMarco, VP of strategic marketing for Cartoon Network and Adult Swim, revealed on Twitter that starting next week, the Toonami programming block "expands to 6 hours from midnight-6am, without repeating from 3a-6a."

Also from his Tweets...

I'm happy to announce that we will also be running the great SYM-BIONIC TITAN, and also the great new THUNDERCATS! Also, BEBOP will make it's return, running from 5a-6a. Finally, this Saturday we'll start running a new lineup spot that gives you the whole rundown, which will air every night for a whole. Hope this news makes you guys as happy...

We've wanted those shows since the beginning. I think Sym-Bionic is Genndy's best work. Just took a little paperwork For anyone thinking Sym-bionic is not "mature enough," watch this scene: youtu.be/-Nq12k4xM7I … This is advanced storytelling. Genius.

The new Thundercats was animated by anime production house Studio4C, who are also responsible for the new Berserk movies. Sym-Bionic Titan is a mecha homage from Samurai Jacks's Genndy Tartakovsky.
